Multicyl Press
Berger Tools Ltd are pleased to supply Multicyl air over oil machine presses. This is a range of punching press units including cylinders, cages and controls for complete punching solutions.
Multicyl presses are an excellent power source for all types of tooling and applications. Simple to set up and operate, Multicyl cylinders are a patented brand of air over oil press for a variety of uses. The most common is hole punching, but this type of press is excellent for many other types of manufacturing applications such as notching, shearing, tube piercing, assembly and metal joining.
Why Choose a Multicyl Press?
• Custom designed to suit every hole punching need
• Proven track record
• Extensive product warranty
Multicyl press cylinders use a two stage, self-adjusting stroke. There are several benefits: simple air controls, lower air consumption as the power is only produced when you need it and there is no need to set the tooling to a precise height (as would be necessary in a mechanical press) as the hydraulic action simply bottoms out whenever the resistance is greater.
How To Choose The Right Press For You!
The two main considerations for selecting Multicyl are stroke and tonnage. Multicyl output is proportionate, e.g. 4 tons @ 40psi (minimum operating pressure) input, 8 tons @ 80 psi. and 12 tons @ 120psi (maximum). Single acting cylinders are designed to act as a hammer on guided tooling. Double acting cylinders provide a lifting force on the return stroke. The double acting types therefore are able to overcome shear force with fewer or no springs and are faster, while the single acting types have an initial price advantage. In order to account for application variables (air pressure, material conditions, punch sharpness, tool and/or frame deflection, etc.), and to ensure a longer machine life (no machine should consistently run at 100% output), a safety margin of 25% should be applied to both stroke and tonnage requirement calculations. Our technical experts are also on hand to discuss your requirements and choose the ideal press for your needs.
When ordering Multicyl Cylinders please also check the ‘Technical Data’ on each page for the required Control Unit and Frame, as these are sold separately for complete flexibility.
