The use is limited to smooth circular cylindrical workpieces or those with two parallel fitting surfaces or contact planes. The numerical values assigned to an ISO tolerance grade (IT) specify the size of the tolerance and thus the toleran- ce field. With ascending number, the size of the tolerance increases. To indicate the position of the tolerance field in relation to the nominal dimension (zero), the number chosen as the tolerance grade IT is preceded by a letter. Tolerance field H is the most common one for bores. It spe- cifies that the minimum dimension of the bore corresponds to the nominal dimension. The permissible maximum di- mension corresponds to the nominal dimension plus the IT tolerance.
