These oil sight glasses use the so-called prismatic effect of a „cat’s eye“ to give a clear and unmistakable oil level reading irrespective of oil color or viscosity. The advantage of these effects becomes obvious in case of a total underfilling or overfilling and monitoring the situation under unfavourable conditions. The sealing ring is embedded in a radial undercut and it cannot be extru- ded during the tightening operation.
